I’ve been exploring research libraries (A Notion insights library), especially the relationships between nuggets, insights, reports, and studies:

Currently, I’ve landed on

Nugget: a discreet, context rich observation, quotation, or other data object, tagged and annotated so as to be usable in a variety of ways by a variety of people.

Insight: a meaningful conclusion or observation made between multiple primary observations or nuggets. An insight can also be based on the combination of multiple insights. Insights occasionally have implications, though implications are often more context specific than an insight.

Study: a process of effort for collecting data. Contains methodology as well as sample information. Often contains reference to prior insights or nuggets via research objectives.

Report: a collection of insights and nuggets, interspersed with commentary, and linked to the studies / supporting data or nuggets. A report often contains implications. Often a report corresponds to a study, summarizing the findings from a single study.

This is incomplete and evolving
